How to Improve Family Connections and Reduce Unwanted Advice

Being the primary caregiver for a loved one with short-term memory loss gives a whole new meaning to “hard work.” For many of you, it is a 24/7 commitment. It’s not a task that you can mark off your to-do list and be done with it at the end of the day, right?
In addition to all of your jobs, sometimes you may also have to deal with well-meaning family members who are NOT involved in the day-to-day care of your loved one but want to give you advice on how YOU should do it. If you are wondering why they are so full of advice for you, I think I have a few tips that might make your conversations with them more productive.
Let’s talk about what you are saying might just be prompting incoming advice. We’ll explore how to set the tone for pleasant conversations, how to share good news, and how to help your family members be a part of your care team without an abundance of unwanted advice. Take a few minutes to see if you can find ways to stay connected and enjoy win-win solutions!

Watch and learn that you can do this!
