Tips for a Stress Less Holiday Season!

The holiday season is in full swing and time again to review how to make it a win-win for you and your loved one with short-term memory loss. Last year a kind person told me this additional trick they have found helpful. Since we’re all human we let slip with a “What did you have for breakfast?” comment. When someone in their family asks a short-term memory question, the other family members laugh and say “Open the folder” (of those old memories) and change their comment.

Here are a few suggestions of those old memories about Christmas that might be in your folder too!

What Christmas activities did dad like best: caroling, decorating, or just sipping eggnog? Does mom like to light candles or attend a song service? What cookie or dish does grandma like this time of year? Knowing the sights and sounds of the holiday season that our loved ones with short-term memory loss enjoyed the most is one way to ensure a stress-less time together. This video includes other tips on how to make this season merry and bright for all.
